GCAP nations award GBP 4.6 billion Edgewing contract for next-generation fighter jet

The trilateral GCAP Agency (UK, Japan, Italy) awarded GBP 4.6 billion (about USD 6.1 billion) to Edgewing, the BAE Systems, Leonardo and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement joint venture, to complete concept work and begin detailed design of the next-generation fighter jet.
