Nscale commits EUR695 million to expand its Portugal GPU campus for Microsoft

Nscale, a UK based AI cloud operator, committed EUR695 million to add a second 200 megawatt building at its Start Campus site in Sines, Portugal, to host over 66,000 Nvidia Rubin GPUs sold to Microsoft as capacity from late 2027.

Verified Nscale press release, 5 May 2026

What it does not test. Does not establish that the added GPU capacity reduces Europe's reliance on Microsoft's Azure platform as the buyer of that capacity.

How this item counts. No movement: no answer to who owns, who operates, whose law governs or who made the parts changes. Weight 0. No question moves: Nscale (UK) just scales its own site; GPUs remain Nvidia, sold to Microsoft. European Sovereignty Index
